This week, we feature BTS’ first song to be released completely in English as a lead artist: DYNAMITE!I hope YOU and your students have a blast with it!

Description:
This song-based STEP-BY-STEP LESSON PLAN for ENGLISH language TEACHING features the lyrics and music video for “Dynamite” by BTS. Students WATCH a short video with unknown facts about BTS, do a TRUE/FALSE exercise based on it, WATCH a vocabulary video with words and expressions from the lyrics, LISTEN to the song and do exercises with an interactive worksheet, READ mini stories and work in pairs to WRITE paragraphs, WATCH the music video and comment on it.
OBS: This lesson plan was made for ONLINE TEACHING, but it can be modified for face-to-face instruction, as well.

STEP-BY-STEP LESSON PLAN
Step 1 Warm up (5 min)
Ask your students if they know the K-Pop band BTS and have them share what they know about it, if they like it etc.
Step 2 (10 min) Video Facts about BTS
(Slide 2) video duration: 2:17 min
Tell your students you’re going to play a short video with some facts about BTS. OBS. it’s not the full 16 facts, just 3 that we’re using for the true or false exercise.
Answers True or false 1 The first Korean band to top the billboard 200 chart and sell out arenas in the UK and the US (true) 2 BTS brings millions of dollars to the Korean economy (false billions, not millions) 3 Many tourists travel to Korea to visit locations related to the group, restaurants or locations where they filmed their music videos, some fly across the world to go to BTS’s concerts (true) 4 Rm’s IQ is 138 (false 148, not 138) 5 He got 850 points on hid toeic test in middle school by self studying (true) 6 V doesn’t like spicy food, tea and soy beans (false - coffee, not tea)
After the correction, ask them which of the three facts most surprised them and why.
Step 3 (5 min) Vocabulary video
Tell your students they’re going to work with a BTS song, but first they’re going to learn some vocabulary words from the lyrics with the Vocabulary Video. Play the video 2x (or share the link for students to watch on their devices 2x).
Words and expressions/idioms in the vocabulary video: I'm into that - I'ma light it up like dynamite - King Kong dance to the break of dawn - LeBron - get up in the morn' glow up - keep ya eyes on the ball - set the night alight
Step 4 ( 7 min) Vocabulary exercise
(Slide 3)
Students do the exercise with some expressions from the video individually.

Answers: A1 B3 C5 D2 E4
Step 5 (7 min) Interactive worksheet.
Share the link to the interactive worksheet. Students Listen to the song and put the sentences in the correct place.
Answers: set the night alight - get up in the morn' - King Kong - drum - LeBron - I'm into that - glow up - I'ma light it up like dynamite - dance to the break of dawn - keep ya eyes on the ball
Step 6 (10 min) Reading + Writing Exercise
Screen-share slide 4. Have individual students read the stories aloud. In pairs (breakout rooms), have students choose one of the stories and write a paragraph explaining the details of how the conflict is resolved in the end (They must include at least one of the sentences from the interactive worksheet).

Step 7 (7 min)
Back to the main room, students share ideas by reading their paragraphs. You can have a vote on the most interesting, surprising, the funniest, etc.
Step 8 (5 min)
Play the music video and students comment on it to close the activity.
