STEP-BY-STEP LESSON PLAN

Step 1

Divide students into pairs or trios (it can also be done individually, depending on the number of students), and tell them they are going to listen to various extracts of songs and in each one they have to listen to different things and write them down on a blank sheet of paper.

Step 2

Before each song extract, there is a screen in which students can see what they’re supposed to listen to in that song. PAUSE the video there and ask students to give you examples of what is being asked.

Step 3

Tell them they have 3 chances to try to get the right word. Then, play the first song it is recorded 3 times in a row and have them write down the answer for number 1.

obs: some songs are really hard, so you may give them extra chances, by going back the video and playing that song extract more times.

Step 4

Check what the teams wrote down (you can use the chat feature of the application you’re using with your online students. ex: in-meeting chat in zoom , and ask them to use it to send you the answers. Assign points. (1 for each right word, if there is more than 1 word in the recording)

Step 5

Repeat steps 2, 3, 4 for the next song extracts. The team with more points, in the end, is the winner!

ANSWERS:

Song 1: NEFFEX - BETTER DAYS
What’s wrong with me? I just feel weight
Pushin’ on my chest, and it squeeze till I suffocate
Better change my mindset, meditate
It’s pretty cool that I’m alive and have better days
I can walk, see, hear I should celebrate
Think I can change my mind, maybe elevate

Song 2: NEFFEX - DESTINY
I've been through some injuries
mentally and physically
studied them religiously
so I don't repeat history

and people won't admit to me
they don't want a victory

Song 3: NEFFEX - FEAR
I think that I’ll be fine
but I do not really know yea
its too late for me
not too late for you
to be great you’ll see
the pains worth the truth
I don’t want to be
just someone that’s new
I speak my mind so free
so you can hear the truth yea

Song 4: NEFFEX - A YEAR AGO
I’ve seen a lot of change
Been through a lot of pain
Some things are not the same
As they were a year ago
But all will be ok
I move on each and every day
The past is where it stays
Way back a year ago

Song 5: NEFFEX - BELIEVE
We’re broken
It’s tragic
We’re not all elastic
But maybe there’s magic
Believe you could have it
And I know of sadness
The anxious and panic
The infinite vastness
Of all that is blackness

Song 6: NEFFEX - ONE SHOT
cuz I’m sick of mediocrity
where’s the quality
everything’s about quantity
ironically
we feed our minds constantly
but don’t think logically yea

one shot
that’s all you got
take it right now
before you get lost

Song 7: NEFFEX - FADE AWAY
I’m sick of all these trends
I’m sick of paying rent
I’m sick of growing up and not just knowing how it ends (BONUS POINT)
so I plan with intent
today I make a dent
I’m gonna make it happen everything that I have dreamt
