STEP-BY-STEP LESSON PLAN

Step 1

Review the formation of the Present Perfect Tense. Have students give you some examples in the affirmative, negative, interrogative forms. Write them on the board.

Step 2

Divide students into pairs or trios (it can also be done individually, depending on the number of students), and tell them they are going to listen to various extracts of songs that have verbs in the Present Perfect.

Step 3

VIDEO.

Tell them they have 3 chances to try to get the right verbs, they don’t need to get the whole sentence, just the subject + aux ver + verb ex: I’ve done, Have you heard, etc. Then, play the Video below. Song 1 extract is recorded 3 times in a row. Pause the video. Students write down the answer for song 1. (play more times if necessary).

Step 4

Check what the teams wrote down (you can use the chat feature of the application you’re using with your online students. ex: in-meeting chat in zoom , and ask them to use it to send you the answers. Assign points. (1 for each right answer, if there is more than 1 verb in the recording)

Step 5

Repeat steps 2, 3, 4 for the next song extracts. The team with more points, in the end, is the winner!

ANSWERS:

Song 01 Hustling - NEFFEXI've seen a lot of people who don't know what work is
I've seen a lot of people who don't know what thirst is
I've had a taste of evil and tried to cure the sickness “

Song 02 Badass - NEFFEX
Oh you could've been a good girl
But instead you chose the real world
Yea you've always been a savage
Oh you've always been a bad chick
I don't care if you got issues
Daddy left but I'm with you
So come with me never look back
We're living life like a badass

Song 03 Nightmare - NEFFEX
Real talk, sipping drinks without all the pressure
Now everybody needs to think about posting whatever
And people ask how I'm doing, I've never been better
That's really not a conversation I'm willing to enter
How come we all continue forcing out all this pressure?
I'm just sick of these opinions and all of these lectures

Song 04 Memories - NEFFEX
It's that first day of first grade
That cute girl, your third date
That backpack, that snapback
You've had since the third grade

Song 05 With you - NEFFEX
I'm sick of all these feelings, I'm sick of all this dealing
Yo, you say that I've changed, but you've changed
All this pain in my veins is from the things you say
Your state of mind never stays the same
You say you're fine but you'd rather lie to me,inside you dividing me

Song 06 - Comeback - NEFFEX
myself
I've always stayed the same, no doubt
I've always played the game all out
And I am here to stay right now
So don't call it a comeback

Song 07 - Never give up - NEFFEX
My hands steady
I feel ready
But my legs heavy
I don't get it
How come I haven't hit it
Already
Still working
