MUSICAL NEIGHBOORHOOD

Comment: as the title says, it all revolves around neighborhoods and a song!

Description: Students TALK about where they live, DESCRIBE  neighborhoods and compare photos, LISTEN to the song and match it to one of the pictures, IMAGINE and DESCRIBE what the people who live in the neighborhoods look like,  READ The lyrics, and WRITE a story (Cambridge English: First for schools Style) for homework.

WRITING A CRAZY STORY 2

Comment: This is a fun activity that will make everyone have a good laugh!

Description: Students TALK about relationships, WRITE a crazy short story together, READ stories, WATCH a music video and comment on it.

ZOMBIE – THE CRANBERRIES

Comment: There’s nothing like a good old flashback once in a while!

Description: Students TALK about a picture, WRITE a paragraph about the picture using the lyrics word cloud in pairs, READ other pairs’ paragraphs in a collaborative google doc, COMPARE their paragraphs with the real situation, SPECULATE about the song, WATCH the music video, and WRITE a story for homework.

MUSICAL RESIDENCE

Comment: This is a very nice lesson plan that makes students use their creativity and imagination!

Description: Students TALK about where they live, DESCRIBE  residences and IMAGINE their interior, LISTEN to the song and match it to one of the houses, IMAGINE and DESCRIBE what the residents of the places look like,  READ The lyrics, and WRITE a story (Cambridge English: First for schools Style) for homework.

MUSICAL VIDEO MATCH

Comment: my students had a blast with this one! Let them go wild!

Description: Students TALK about a short video, MATCH videos and music pieces, EXPLAIN their choices, WRITE the lyrics for a song with the help of a template, SING it to the rhythm of the music they chose, and WRITE a story for homework (Cambridge English: First for Schools).

MUSICAL PHOTO STORY

Comment: Students love to show and talk about their things. Highly collaborative!

Description: Students TALK about their favorite photos in groups, LISTEN to the song and connect their photos with other students’s photos to WRITE a short narrative in a collaborative google doc, WRITE a story in the mold of CAMBRIDGE ENGLISH: FIRST FOR SCHOOLS (FCE FOR SCHOOLS PAPER 2 PART 2 as homework. and, optionally, WORK with an interactive worksheet (CAN + LISTENING COMPREHENSION) using the lyrics.

CREATIVE WRITING

Comment: This is a favorite of mine because of the crazy (imaginative) results I get from my students!

Description: Students CREATE characters based on a sentence and prompts, LISTEN to the song and TALK about its meaning, READ the lyrics and use them to WRITE  a short narrative with the characters they created and WRITE a story in the mold of CAMBRIDGE ENGLISH: FIRST FOR SCHOOLS (FCE FOR SCHOOLS PAPER 2 PART 2 as homework.

WRITING A CRAZY STORY 1

Comment: I love the funny combinations in the end!

Description: Students TALK about relationship breakups, WRITE a crazy short story together, READ stories, WATCH a music video and comment on it.

SING IT WITH ME – JP COOPER

Comment: This music video is very nice and students always have fun with the activities

Description: Students TALK about photos and CREATE characters and life backgrounds, WRITE and COMPARE short narratives, WATCH a music video, DO a listening exercise with the lyrics, and WRITE a story.
