STEP-BY-STEP LESSON PLAN

Step 1 (5 min)

Genial.ly Presentation. LINK

Show slide one and ask: Do you recognize the person in the picture? Who is this person? What is he/she thinking? How’s he/she feeling?

Step 2 (3 min)

Play just the beginning of the music video twice, the part with the telephone conversation. Ask students what they understood about what Adele said.

Step 3 (10 min)

Slide 02. Show slide two with the script of the telephone conversation. Help them with unknown vocabulary. Ask them who she might be talking to.

Individually, have them write what the person on the other side of the line is probably saying.

Have several students perform the conversation for the whole class.

Step 4 (10 min)

Pair work. (breakout rooms). Show slide 3 with the sentences and the comic strips with the speech bubbles. Tell your students that the sentences are from Adele’s song.

Their task is to match the comics with the sentences and prepare to explain their choices.

Step 5 (7 min)

Back to the main room, the pairs share their matches. Ask other students if they agree or disagree and why.

Step 6 (15 min)

Interactive worksheet. LINK (PDF WORKSHEET HERE)

Step 7 (7 min)

Play the music video and have students comment on it to finish the activity.
